The project has encompassed a wide range of tasks and required clear planning, close coordination, and practical problem-solving along the way.<\/p>\n\n

Each workday began with a joint briefing where the day\u2019s work was planned together with the skilled workers. At the same time, the overall schedule was monitored on an ongoing basis. The approach was based on always staying about two weeks ahead of schedule. <\/p>\n\n

It has been an important part of the entire project.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve made up time, lost time, made up time, and lost time again. But as long as you know what to do over the next two weeks, you can keep the project on track.\u201d <\/em>, says Zorab Gr\u00e4svik, site manager at Nordia.<\/p>\n\n

When circumstances change<\/h3>\n\n

The project has been challenging at times. The permafrost affected production and disrupted the workflow. In addition, the pumps had to be put into operation earlier than planned, which led to a significant acceleration of the project. <\/p>\n\n

Despite this, the project team managed to resolve the situation and stay on the critical schedule.<\/p>\n\n

By the fall of 2025, the intensive push had just come to an end. At that point, work on the chemistry lab had recently begun. Originally, the goal was to complete it by the end of November, but the work was finished around November 11. <\/p>\n\n

It served as a clear example of how planning, accountability, and collaboration can make a difference when the pace is fast and conditions are changing.<\/p>\n\n

A multidisciplinary project<\/h3>\n\n

During the project\u2019s busiest period, between twelve and fourteen skilled workers were on site, along with four office staff and 15 to 20 skilled workers from subcontractors. In total, about 40 people were working during the busiest phase. <\/p>\n\n

The project team included Zorab Gr\u00e4svik, Philip Gr\u00e4svik, Alexander Haarala Vikstr\u00f6m, Marko R\u00f6nkk\u00f6, David Bergvall, and <\/strong> Mikael Harju<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n

Nordia\u2019s projects have encompassed a wide range of tasks. Among other things, Nordia has excavated, laid sewer and pressure pipes, installed tanks, poured concrete basins, built pump pits, poured foundations and footings, erected structural steel, installed sandwich panels, completed roofs, poured floors, built interior walls, installed fire protection systems, painted, built laboratory facilities, and installed doors and windows. <\/p>\n\n

Nordia carried out the project on its own, taking responsibility for both liaising with the client and the practical implementation of the production.<\/p>\n\n

First major project as site manager<\/h3>\n\n

The project began on November 9, 2024, right in the middle of the busiest period. For Zorab, Viscaria was also the first truly large-scale project in which he fully assumed the role of site manager. <\/p>\n\n

He has previously worked as a construction engineer and site manager on smaller projects, but the role of site manager on a larger project entails a different level of overall responsibility.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cIt actually turned out better than I had imagined. As a site manager, you have overall responsibility for the entire project and direct contact with the client. It\u2019s been very interesting and rewarding working on this section.\u201d <\/em>“, says Zorab.<\/p>\n\n

The two-week planning cycle turned out to be one of the project\u2019s most important success factors. At first, this approach was new to some, but over time it became a natural way to break the project down into manageable parts and maintain control. <\/p>\n\n

Collaboration Every Step of the Way<\/h3>\n\n

Another key factor in our success has been the collaboration among all those involved.<\/p>\n\n

The project team has worked closely with the client throughout the project. Weekly meetings have been held with the designers, and during certain periods, contact has been daily. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how you succeed. We\u2019ve had a very good project team, both on our end and on the client\u2019s end.\u201d <\/em>“, says Zorab.<\/p>\n\n

People-Centered Leadership<\/h3>\n\n

When Zorab describes his leadership style, he keeps coming back to the same point. It\u2019s about people and always doing his very best to be there and support everyone. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe work with people. That always comes first for me.\u201d <\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

His philosophy is based on building trust and giving people the opportunity to take responsibility.<\/p>\n\n

“I try to help everyone along the way achieve their goals\u2014whether it’s the client, the supervisor, or the tradespeople.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

He describes his leadership style as one based on trust.<\/p>\n\n

“My style is based largely on trust. I want to let the guys try things out for themselves, do their jobs, and grow while taking on responsibility. At the same time, it\u2019s a form of personal development for me to find ways to support different individuals at every stage. Earning trust is, after all, a way to instill a little courage; then you naturally want to support them and make things as comfortable as possible, but you also have to let others go their own way and stand on their own two feet.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

At the same time, he highlights the importance of the team and how the employees have supported one another across different projects.<\/p>\n\n

For Zorab, it is the interplay between planning, responsibility, and people that has enabled the project to overcome both challenges and time pressures. The Viscaria project is now nearing the finish line, with extensive work already completed and only the final steps remaining before handover. <\/p>\n\n
